From the Telegraph, we have this.
Now, if he was steeling cars and boasting about it, then nick him for theft. I’ll ignore the drugs bit, as I think I have made my views on the subject clear, other than to say that while they remain illegal, plod has every right to intervene. What worries me is this;
‘The court heard a police investigation found the boy had also made offensive comments against officers on his web page.’
‘Pc Tim Chapman, of Norfolk police, said: “The comments on the Bebo website demonstrated his attitude towards offending, the community and the police.” {emphasis mine}
I need to be careful here, obviously, as if this little darling had posted comments such as ‘PC xxx is a fat cunt whose throat I am going to slit’, then one could say that was a threat. However, if he had simply posted ‘PC xxx is a fat cunt’, then that is just opinion. We cannot have a situation where criticism of the police, however blunt, should be a contributory factor in a prosecution.
