Several blogs have picked up on this story, where a blogger is claiming he faces arrest when returning to the UK under suspicion of ‘Stirring up Racial Hatred by displaying written material contrary to sections 18(1) and 27(3) of the Public Order Act 1986’.
I have read the blog at the centre of this, and although hardly flattering of Islam in general, to say that it is ’stirring up racial hatred’ is obscene. I still have some niggling doubts as to if story is totally true, so I shall watch from the sidelines for now, ready to do battle if required.
Free speech is a gift that we ought not give away so easily, whatever those in the BBC / Nu Labour alliance say. Every day, inch by inch, they enact legislation that criminalises that which was until then, only political opinion. As Cranmer points out, soon the EU will be able to kidnap you and take you to a country to be charged with ‘xenophobia’, a crime that will no doubt include any criticism of the Social Democratic Republic of Europe. Do you hear the authoritarian collective of the Torys / Fib Dems and the BBC / Nu Labour alliance complain about this type of extraordinary rendition? Do you bollocks.
Hopefully, one day soon the British people will see how their freedoms have been eroded by this bowl of shit that masquerades as a government, and will rise up to demand democracy back. One can only hope that on that day, the streets are lined by lampposts that are decorated by the twitching bodies* of the MP’s, SpAds, Councillors and various other collected filth that think they are being so frighteningly clever in their authoritarian master plan. Your time will come, bastards.

The first thing this government did on coming to power was to abolish the death penalty for treason.
It became quite obvious to me very early in the Blair days that they knew they were going to be treasonous.
As an atheist, I don’t see how you can possibly insult something that does not exist. If I were to believe in the tooth fairy, you would be perfectly entitled to insult, besmirch or otherwise denigrate that belief.
Apart from that, totally agreed, altho’ I would give all the politicos the soft option of choosing immediate exile in Cuba, North Korea or Venezuala.
