Tosser. People are quite aware of the (relative) danger of motorcycles, compared to cars. They do, however, judge that the increased risk is one worth taking due to the benefits (one of which is the much needed ‘fun’ aspect). Nobody forces motorcyclists to ride motorcycles, and nobody has a right to nanny them off the roads.
Below is a selection of two wheeled vehicles that in my youth, I managed to either own or get my grubby hands on (i.e. blag from mates). Not the actual ones, but the correct models*. It’s only a selection ~ I couldn’t find pictures of the Maaco or the Bulltacco* ~ and the amount of scooters I owned (all of the Vespa’s or Lambretta’s) was almost obsessive. When I was 18, I had eight of the freaking things, in various states of repair. As my X-ray file will testify, I have the war wounds to match.
It was fucking fantastic fun, and I don’t regret a single broken bone. In fact, I cannot put into words the joy of tuning a small-frame Vespa engine to Group 5 spec and razzing around the English countryside, or tearing across farmland on a single cylinder Maaco 500, which tried to snap your leg in half just by trying to start the bugger. The very idea that someone, somewhere, wants to ban present and future generations from having this experience, and to teach them (falsely) that life can somehow be made totally bland and safe saddens me greatly.
Right, I’m getting all nostalgic now, so without further ado, here is the two-stroke porn;

We’ve had these supposed ‘experts’ wanting to ban bikes since their first inception, mostly through cowardice (It’s SCAWEY, lets ban it so I dont look a wuss). They’ve not succeeded yet and I dont expect them to do so now, tossers all. I hope MCN keep on this, these whiners are always ready to ban someone elses pleasure.
